Pronounced “Voo Ca Ray”, it is French for “Old Quarter”, and is a term used for the French Quarter of New Orleans. (Note: Vieux Carré is also the name of a cocktail made with rye, Cognac, sweet vermouth, and bitters.)

Born Paul Alton Senegal in Lafayette, Louisiana, Paul “Lil’ Buck” Sinegal, the legendary blues and zydeco guitarist and singer passed away on June 10, 2019, in his Lafayette home. Known as the Master of the Stratocaster, he played with Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat Zydeco, and many others during his 60 year career.

New Orleans-based guitarist Spencer Bohren died on June 8, 2019, from cancer; he was 69. The Blues and Folk artist performed his music far and wide, but made New Orleans his home.
